Nikken Sekkei President Tadao Kamei Awarded the Innovation and Technology Keicho Award in Spain


Tadao Kamei, Nikken Sekkei President and CEO, was recently awarded the Innovation and Technology Keicho Award from the Japan-Spain Business Circle (Círculo Empresarial Japón España (CEJE)), a platform in Spain for the promotion of economic, business, and cultural exchange between Japan and Spain. He was presented with this award at the first CEJE Gala held at the
Museu Nacional d’Art de Catalunya in Barcelona on October 25, 2016.

●Award background
Nikken Sekkei and Pascual-Ausió arquitectes, a local design firm, participated in the international design competition for the renovation of Camp Nou, the home stadium of the world-famous football club, FC Barcelona, and was selected as the design team on March 8 this year.
Kamei’s innovative approach, which gave birth to the proposed design praised by the Nou Camp Nou competition judges as “Open, Elegant, Serene, Timeless, Mediterranean and Democratic,” was recognized as a distinguished achievement worthy of reception of this award.

This award, presented at the first CEJE Gala, was named the Innovation and Technology Keicho Award in tribute to the Japanese Keicho embassy which came to Spain for the first time 400 years ago.

The award recognizes the work of two individuals who have contributed to furthering business and cultural understanding between Japan and Spain through accomplishments based on innovation and high technology.
