2009.12

December 2009 (Tokyo, Japan) — Nikken Sekkei's Osaka Bar Association Building earned a Gold Award in the Commercial category for Environment Design at the 2009 DFA (Design for Asia) Awards ceremony.

The building, completed in 2006, was designed to integrate with the existing architectural topography of the area. Featuring a see-through appearance achieved by minimizing central structural elements, the building symbolizes the Association’s ideals such as public transparency, enduring service and eco-friendliness.

The DFA Awards are organized by the Hong Kong Design Centre in order to increase awareness of the importance of superior design as essential to business success and to promote a sustainable quality of life. Winners in 2009 were selected from hundreds of entrants completing projects in Asia, and were based on superiority of design, impact on the Asian lifestyle and commercial success.
