This building, in the hilly region of southern Kanagawa surrounded by the Hakone Mountains, supplies Asahi beer to the western region of Greater Tokyo. Numerous design brief parameters included building in harmony with its surrounding environment, forest preservation, retaining all excavated earth on site, facility centralization, recycling of disposed and wasted materials, zero freon emission, energy conservation etc. Programmatically the three story building separates the main flow lines of process distribution & distribution management, employees, and visitors for maximum efficiency of advanced production equipment and processes. Symbolically the building opens out to the region, a landscaped "Cambrinus Hill" greeting visitors at the entrance.
