This museum is constructed in National Park of Fuji Hakone, a suburb of Tokyo for exhibiting the huge collections, mainly paintings of Impressionism, assembled by the former chairman of POLA Corporation. Majority of the building structure is covered underground in a bowl shape to be consistent in height with surrounding forest and to reduce impact by earthquake. Visitors would cross a bridge for approaching the glass entrance at the highest level and witness the dramatic lobby of 4-floor high with the view of graceful nature underneath. Exhibition rooms around fully utilize fiber light for illumination, providing the best condition for appreciating the collections.
