The Sagamihara Campus was created at a site already rich in trees and greenery. Environmental advances were achieved by the realization of a longer building life cycle, the conservation of rainwater and well water, and the effective use of natural energy sources such as sunlight, wind, and geothermal heat. Consideration was also given to heat, soil, and other environmental factors that are affected during the construction process. The new campus provides students with easy access and comfortable spaces located throughout campus to enhance communication. Earth tones and rough stone tiles were used for the exterior, making for a simple yet attractive design.
