Outline

This 10.1 hectare ex-Ministry of Defense site has been redeveloped utilizing regional planning mechanisms to achieve a 560,000m2 mixed use urban facility including office buildings, hotels, residential buildings, commercial facilities, art museums, and a multipurpose hall and public park. Nikken's broad ranging role included establishing the position of the chief architect, coordination between the many design groups led by SOM, and responsibility for the overall management of the project, urban planning, project planning, design, and supervision. The landmark Midtown Tower forms the centerpiece around which a skirt of commercial buildings link to additional towers and public space linking to the community.
