Outline

This project involved the relocation of the head office building of Japan's largest exhibition and display company. Expanding on themes of exhibition and display the building showcases both its architectonic nature and its inhabitants. Following a detailed structural analysis, vertical and lateral load resisting elements were positioned for maximum efficiency and exposed through full height glazing. Further, locating emergency staircases on the periphery of the building and creating "skip void" space resulted in cross-floor flow, greater usage of stairs and increased interaction within the building and to the outside. Other prominent features include a rooftop lawn, a gallery-like airlock room and café, and a double height studio.
