Outline

The brief for this headquarters building for the global car maker was be Toyota's "new face" to its domestic and international visitors, providing them with a warm and friendly welcome. The building embodies Toyota's environmental commitment and Corporate Social Responsibility. With the usage of such methods as an "underground café" filled with natural light utilizing a mirror duct, and the concept of a "vertical Village" facilitating both communication and natural variable step-controlled air conditioning ventilation according to heat load in different areas, the 15 story building achieves a 40% reduction in energy consumption over a standard office building.
