Katsumi Kubota joined Hokkaido Nikken Sekkei in 1987 after completing graduate studies at Hokkaido University. Since then, he has been involved in most of the company’s projects, including office buildings, government, airport, medical and research facilities, as well as hotels and redevelopment projects. Although environmental and mechanical engineering design has been his main role, he has also headed the Design Section, the Planning and Development Section, and the Business Promotion Department. He became an executive officer of Hokkaido Nikken Sekkei in 2006, then CEO in 2020, after which he became an executive officer and Hokkaido representative at Nikken Sekkei following the 2022 merger. He has been in his current position since 2024. He is a registered first-class architect, a professional engineer (sanitary engineering), and a member of the AIJ (Architectural Institute of Japan).
