During his time at the Department of Civil and Earth Resources Engineering, Graduate School of Engineering, Kyoto University, Mr. Okawa was also involved with a Swiss architectural design firm. He joined Nikken Sekkei Civil Engineering in 2015 after earning his degree, and is currently in charge of public space planning and design. He constantly pushes the edge with challenging, cross-discipline activities, with an eye on both the present and the future. His major projects include Himeji City’s Otemae-dori, the Sakuramachi-Hanabata open space area in Kumamoto City (following transfer to Nikken Sekkei’s Architectural Design Dept. from 2018-2020), and parks, such as one location near Osaka City’s Higashi-Yokobori River.

His published works include co-authorship credit for “Exercise 1: Textbook on Design Exercises for the Faculty of Creative Engineering at the Chiba Institute of Technology” (2017). From 2021 he has been lecturing part-time at Kyoto University.
