Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I)

Nikken Sekkei is committed to creating an environment where all employees can fully realize and maximize their individual potential, based on the “Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) Promotion Declaration” announced in 2024.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) Promotion Declaration

Nikken Sekkei’s core philosophy is “Contributing to Society through Work of Value.”
In today’s world, where values continue to diversify and evolve, we believe that “diverse value creation in response to emerging social challenges” is essential. This requires building an environment where people of all backgrounds, values, experiences, talents, and lifestyles —regardless of race, nationality, religion, gender, age, disability, gender identity, or sexual orientation—can fully realize their potential.
With strong commitment from our management, we declare that Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DE&I) is a key management strategy and will actively promote related initiatives across the organization.
As a first step, we are prioritizing the empowerment of women, setting both quantitative goals and qualitative action plans to guide and implement targeted measures in a phased manner.

Promotion Structure

In line with the above DE&I Statement, Nikken Sekkei has established both quantitative goals and qualitative action plans as company initiatives. In 2025, we launched the DE&I Promotion Office, which serves as the core entity driving all DE&I-related initiatives. The office brings together seven members from a wide range of disciplines across both business and administrative divisions. Their diverse backgrounds—ranging from parenting and caregiving responsibilities to non-Japanese nationalities and regional residency—reflect a variety of working styles and perspectives. Leveraging these diverse experiences, the office is responsible for planning and implementing effective and inclusive strategies. We also hold the “DE&I Promotion Conference” four times a year, chaired by our President. This conference monitors the progress of department goals toward our “2030 DE&I targets,” ensures the alignment of appropriate roadmaps, and supports steady execution of action plans toward achieving the goals.

In July 2017, Nikken Sekkei received the highest rating (third level) of Eruboshi certification, having met all five evaluation criteria.
