Nikken Sekkei Signs Design Consulting Contract for Masraf Al Rayan Head Office Building

On Monday, September 7, 2015, Nikken Sekkei signed a design consulting contract with Masraf Al Rayan, a leading bank in Qatar, for the scheduled construction of its new head office building. Present at the signing ceremony were Mr. Khalid Fakhroo, General Manager (Engineering & Real Estate) of Masraf Al Rayan, and Tadao Kamei, President and Chief Executive Officer of Nikken Sekkei.
At the signing ceremony, Mr. Fakhroo spoke of his expectations toward the new head office building and its significance, stating that the building will be a landmark symbolizing the strong economic situation of Qatar and will show the bank’s deep commitment to the banking industry and the economy as a whole.
The new head office building is scheduled to be built in Lusail, a new city development adjacent to the West Bay Lagoon, 15 kilometers north of central Doha. The city will have housing to accommodate 200,000 residents, marinas, an upscale shopping mall, as well as golf courses and a theme park, and aims to become Qatar’s central financial district in the future.
