Opening Ceremony of Nikken Sekkei Dubai, held in Palace Downtown

(Dubai, U.A.E.) On May 17th, 2023, the opening ceremony of Nikken Sekkei’s new local subsidiary in the Dubai Design District, “Nikken Sekkei Dubai,” was held at Palace Downtown hotel. More than 130 attended the event including clients and partners.

Atsushi Omatsu, the president and CEO of Nikken Sekkei gave an opening speech, which was followed by a congratulatory message from Noboru Sekiguchi, consul-general of Japan in Dubai. Then Fadi Jabri, CEO of Nikken Sekkei Dubai, elaborated on the design journey of Nikken Sekkei.

Nikken Sekkei’s first project in Dubai was the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, won through an international competition some 30 years ago. Dubai’s superior infrastructure and proximity to clients in the Middle East, India, and CIS have since supported the company’s growth in the region. Notable recent projects include One Za'abeel in Dubai and Tadawul Tower in Riyadh.

The second half of the event featured some of the latest projects taken on by the Dubai office. The subsidiary is expected to contribute to Dubai’s development, and serve mixed-use, urban planning, hospitality, and high-end residential markets in the U.A.E. and neighboring countries by providing holistic and innovative designs.
