(DUBAI, U.A.E.) -- The Nikken Sekkei-designed One Za’abeel project in Dubai, U.A.E. has made architecture history as the world’s Longest Cantilevered Building, as determined by Guinness World RecordsTM on March 1, 2024.

Suspended 100 meters above ground, the project’s skybridge called “THE LINK” measures 230 meters in length and joins the site’s two vertical towers built on either side of a busy highway. Its celebrated cantilevered portion extends 67.277 meters beyond the main tower. A feat of engineering, One Za’abeel is positioned at the beginning of Dubai’s downtown area, and close to the Dubai International Airport, the structure’s impressive shape forms a “gateway” to visitors arriving to the U.A.E. capital.

After several years the making, One Za’abeel celebrated its grand opening event in Early February 2024. THE LINK was the project’s most challenging and iconic portion, requiring state-of-the-art design technology and an ingenuitive hoisting technique to lift it into place. Created using a robust outer tubular structure system, its main steel members were arranged in a diamond grid pattern to minimize torsion. Assembly was completed in two phases over 16 days without disrupting traffic flow below.

Now completed, THE LINK is a floating boulevard home to the ultimate luxury, its offerings include five Michelin-inspired restaurants by celebrity chefs, a chic destination bar, the UAE's longest suspended infinity pool, and unobstructed panoramic views of Dubai.
