Shimokitazawa Project Selected as Finalist in the MIPIM Awards 2016
The Shimokitazawa Project (Developer: Odakyu Electric Railway Co., Ltd) has been selected as a finalist in the Best Urban Regeneration Project category of the MIPIM Awards 2016. Nikken Sekkei is in charge of the overall master plan. The winner will be selected at MIPIM in Cannes, France.
The undergrounding of Odakyu rail lines as part of the Tokyo government’s plan to eliminate level crossings and the quadruple tracking of the Odakyu Line are generating land where the tracks once existed. The Shimokitazawa Project will bring various functions to this area and connect the community. The project was appraised for its value in contributing to community regeneration.
MIPIM (Le marche international des professionnels de l’immobilier) is an event bringing together the world’s property and architectural professionals. The MIPIM Awards annually award projects that are viewed to be outstanding from real estate and architectural perspectives. This year, entries totaled 230 projects from 43 countries. The finalists in each category display their work at MIPIM for voting by the event participants.
