Nikken Sekkei wraps-up a hugely successful MIPIM 2014

Nikken Sekkei executives recently concluded what turned out to be a hectic but hugely successful participation during this year’s MIPIM exhibition which took place on 11-14 March in Cannes, on the French Riveria.

At this year’s event supported by the Ministry of Land and Transport and the Tokyo government, Nikken Sekkei participated on the Tokyo Pavilion as part of an exclusive group of top Japanese developers.

Nikken Sekkei also conducted a roundtable discussion at the Moscow Government Stand, where new investment opportunities in intermodal transport hubs were discussed. The discussion was organized by the Moscow City Government along with the Russian Guild of Property Managers and Developers, and some topics that were debated included relevance, international experience, retail infrastructure, and restructuring and development of transport hubs.

Nikken Sekkei’s lecture focused on international experience of transport hub development, drawing similarities between Moscow and Tokyo and stressing on the importance of new integrated hubs for Moscow in order to reduce pressure on the central city.

An important outcome of the event was the Moscow government’s decision to participate at MIPIM JAPAN in May 2015.
Furthermore, Pioneer Group showcased the Botanicheski Sad Project at the Moscow Pavillion, receiving great attention from the public and support from the government. Mr. Grudin, the developer of the project, established contacts with Nikken Sekkei and expressed plans to visit Japan in order to further discuss the project.

Nikken Sekkei has also signed a Letter of Agreement with Mongolian development company Mon Uran LLC, to design a landmark tower in the capital Ulaanbaatar. The agreement requires Nikken Sekkei to design a mixed-use project that will cost in excess of $300 million once completed. The tower will situated in 1.1 hectares of prime city centre real estate, with a built up area of 110,000 square metres, situated just 10 minutes’ walk from Sukhbaatar Square, the location of the Government House.
