A space woven from “venues for culture and the arts” and “lush greenery”

Located in the heart of Osaka Prefecture (Hirakata City), the Hirakata Performing & Visual Arts Center is a new landmark featuring three halls and an art gallery. To ensure the facility will be cherished by many citizens for years to come, the design aimed to create a space where “cultural and artistic venues” and “lush greenery” intertwine.Outside, the plaza in front of the facility features a grassy area where citizens can gather casually, a shaded area under trees, and a stage, with spaces dedicated to culture and the arts dotted throughout. Inside, with a focus on spatial continuity with the outdoors, the design creates an environment filled with abundant greenery—provided by the courtyard and greenery along the eaves—and natural light. We hope that the indoor and outdoor spaces will work in harmony to foster the artistic activities of our citizens.
