Hitoshi Sakamoto
Deputy Representative
After completing the Master’s program in Civil Engineering at the Graduate School of Science and Engineering, Chuo University, in 1994, he joined Nikken Sekkei. In 2001, he was transferred to Nikken Sekkei Civil Engineering following the establishment of the Nikken Sekkei Civil Engineering Division. In Japan, he has primarily been involved in design projects for railway facilities and underground structures (stations, parking garages, underground shopping arcades, and utility tunnels). Leveraging this experience, he has worked on planning and design tasks for urban infrastructure projects—including TOD, station plazas, pedestrian decks, infrastructure networks, and underground shopping arcades—primarily in major metropolitan areas in China. By combining the civil engineering expertise cultivated in Japan with innovative urban regeneration strategies, he aims to develop new urban infrastructure. He was transferred back to Nikken Sekkei following its integration in April 2022. He holds certifications as a First-Class Architect, Professional Engineer (Railways, Soil Mechanics and Foundations), and First-Class Civil Engineering Construction Manager.
