DaiyaGate Ikebukuro
wins Project of The Year at CIBSE 2021

We are delighted to announce that DaiyaGate Ikebukuro has been awarded Project of the Year - International at CIBSE - Building Performance Awards 2021. It is the first time for a project in Japan to receive this award. The Award recognizes and celebrates the new buildings that most effectively demonstrate high levels of user satisfaction and comfort while delivering outstanding performances.

Directly connected to and constructed over the third busiest station in the world, DaiyaGate Ikebukuro is a 20-story high-rise building built over railway tracks, the first of its kind in Japan. Designed to provide a comfortable work experience in the office floors and revitalize the area surrounding Ikebukuro station, by attracting both Tokyoites and tourists, DaiyaGate Ikebukuro is also capable of offering a safe and secure shelter for citizens unable to return home for three days in case of major disasters, such as magnitude-7 or greater earthquakes.

  • Actual primary energy consumption reduced by circa 50%, compared to a baseline building
  • Robust seismic resilience and redundancy, effective and flexible office space, occupant comfort, energy conservation, large floor plates, and high environmental performance achieved in the MEP design
  • Chilled water storage tank that assists cooling demand during summer peak hours (peak power demand of the whole building is 38W/㎡)
