FC Barcelona President Bartomeu and Vice President Moix Visit Nikken Sekkei while in Japan

On July 22, Nikken Sekkei welcomed key representatives of FC Barcelona to our headquarters in Tokyo during their Japan tour: Josep Maria Bartomeu, the president of FC Barcelona; vice president and Espai Barça Commissioner Jordi Moix; Pau Vilanova; Josep Ramon Vidal-Abarca; CEO Òscar Grau; and Real Estate Director, and Espai Barça project director William T. Mannarelli.

Our president and CEO Tadao Kamei, vice president Katsuya Kawashima, and general manager of the Barcelona branch Tadahiko Murao led a guided tour through our offices, followed by a presentation on the progress on the Future Camp Nou project, including collaboration between the project team of the Barcelona branch and our Tokyo support team, which are both making productive use of the time difference between them.

Bartomeu spoke highly of Nikken Sekkei, saying, “We are very grateful to be working with Nikken Sekkei. We will continue to work together as a unified team to bring the project to its successful end.”

Further, at the Cervantes Institute in Tokyo on July 23, FC Barcelona’s vice president Jordi Moix, William T. Mannarelli, and Víctor Pageo of Nikken Sekkei delivered a presentation titled Architecture and Sport: FC Barcelona, Strategic Projects and Espai Barça. Moix began with a description of the 120-year history of the club and the five strategic projects currently underway, and then Mannarelli introduced the Espai Barça Project and the redevelopment of the club’s stadium, arena, offices, and recreational facilities. Afterwards, Nikken Sekkei, which was established a year after FC Barcelona’s foundation, presented itself and the Future Camp Nou project, currently in the Detail Design phase.
