Tokyo Midtown Hibiya wins Gold at MIPIM Asia Awards 2019

Tokyo Midtown Hibiya wins first place in the Best Mixed-use Development category at this year’s edition of MIPIM Asia Awards. Created in 2007, the MIPIM Asia Awards celebrates excellence and innovation among the very best of the Asian real estate industry, honoring the most outstanding and accomplished projects, completed or yet to be built, in Asia Pacific.

Tokyo Midtown Hibiya is a mixed-use urban development rising in the elegant and culturally vibrant Hibiya district. The area adjacent to Hibiya Park, the Imperial Hotel, and several theaters serves as connecting hub to key central Tokyo district. The goal was to enhance the perception of the district, offering a place where people would enjoy spending their spare time and which could be appreciated during work or commute hours.

Tokyo Midtown Hibiya, in addition to offices, a sky lobby, a conference hall, a theatre, shops and restaurants, also include: Hibiya Step Plaza, a circular plaza enclosed by steps and clusters of trees that provides a place for rest in the area. Various kinds of events are held using the steps as both audience seating and as stage. Hibiya-Nakadori Street, the pedestrian promenade inspired by Hibiya Park’s broad paths, has shade and organic lines for a corridor with a gentle ambience. Park View Garden on the sixth floor, an open space for resting and enjoying the view unto the park. Hibiya Arcade, on the first basement floor, a barrier-free access to the subways that may also serve as a temporary evacuation center in case of emergency. Open terraces and pedestrian accessways placed along the lower levels and facing the park, as well as “Park View Garden” located above the lower-level apartments, together create a relationship of mutual awareness where the lush foliage of the park is visible from the building, and activities inside the building are visible from the park.
