On Day 3, Dr. Fadi Jabri, executive officer of Nikken Sekkei and CEO of Nikken Sekkei Dubai delivered a presentation on the design and architecture stage, entitled “Transit Integration: Lessons from Tokyo,” sharing Nikken’s extensive experience with Transit Oriented Development in Japan, and its implications for the rapidly expanding city of Riyadh.
“In Japan, railways are often developed together with real estate, and station squares are vibrant centers of activities that connect users to a wider network of pedestrian passageways extending into the surrounding city. It may take years to reach, but the concept of TOD can be highly beneficial to Riyadh on its way to becoming a mega city,” said Dr. Jabri.
