Jun Kato

Urban designer. Graduated from the Waseda University in 1994. After working as an urban planning consultant, he earned master’s degrees from the University of California, Berkeley, and Harvard University. Following a stint in architecture and urban design at an architectural firm in San Francisco, he returned to Japan in 2009 and joined Nikken Sekkei.Drawing on his professional experience in Japan, the U.S., and ASEAN, he leads a wide range of projects centered on meaningful public spaces, diversity, and feasibility.In 2024, he was seconded to Nikken Sekkei Vietnam, where he focused on new urban district master plans and TOD. His major projects include the Detailed Urban Plan and Architectural Guidelines for Ho Chi Minh City, the North Hanoi Smart City, and Ho Chi Minh City’s Lakeview City. He is a First-Class Registered Architect.
