Koko Nakamura

Koko Nakamura joined Nikken Sekkei in 1989 after graduating from Kyushu University's Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering. She has primarily focused on office buildings in Japan, as well as sports facilities, museums, and hotels. In recent years, she has also led overseas projects, promoting the beauty of Japanese design and high-quality architecture globally. Her representative works include Tokyo Gas Earth Port (1996), Gas Science Museum (2006), Toranomon Kotohira Tower (2004), Yokohama Mitsui Building (2012), YKK80 Building (2015), COMO Metropolitan (Singapore, 2023), One Za'abeel (Dubai, 2024), and Akasaka Green Cross (2024), among others. Her work has garnered numerous awards, including the BCS (Building Contractors Association) Award, the Grand Prize of the JIA (Japan Institute of Architects) Environmental Architecture Award, and the Grand Prize of CTBUH (Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat), Middle East and Africa Division. She is a first-class registered architect, an APEC architect, holds memberships in the AIJ (Architectural Institute of Japan), the JIA, the Tokyo Society of Architects and Building Engineers, and UIFA Japan (Union Internationale des Femmes Architectes Japon).
