Yasuhiro Tsuneki joined Nikken Sekkei in 1979 after graduating from the Department of Architecture at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. As a structural engineer, he has headed many projects, including skyscrapers, seismic isolation buildings, and large-space buildings. His numerous structure-related awards include the AIJ (Architectural Institute of Japan) Award (Technical), a JSCA (Japan Structural Consultants Association) award for Shiodome Sumitomo Building, a JSSI (Japan Society for Seismic Isolation) award for Shinano Mainichi Shimbun Headquarters, among others. He is a first-class registered architect in structural engineering, a licensed structural engineer, and holds an engineering doctorate (PhD), as well as memberships in the JSCA, The JIA (Japan Institute of Architects) and the AIJ.
