Yasutomo Matsui joined Nikken Sekkei after finishing studies at the University of Tsukuba’s Graduate School of Environmental Sciences in 1993. He provides consulting services in all project phases from inception to completion, including research for government plans and policy programs, and concept planning, consultation, coordination, and project promotion for private urban developments. He has particular experience in development projects that make use of underutilized land, such as former factory sites, and has led projects such as the Osaki Station West Exit Development (Tokyo’s first special urban revitalization district), and development plans for Harumi, Toyosu, and Rinkai Fukutoshin in the Tokyo waterfront area, as well as Yumeshima (Osaka), and Yamashita Pier (Yokohama). He has also participated in the urban revitalization of the Sapporo city center area in all phases of planning and project promotion, and is working on creating a public-private co-creation platform. He is a professional engineer (construction: urban and regional planning), and a member of The CPIJ (City Planning Institute of Japan).
