BNI（Bank Negara Indonesia) Tokyo Branch

The relocation plan for the Tokyo branch of BNI (Bank Negara Indonesia), Indonesia's state-owned bank, required a "sense of place" that would serve as both a bank branch and an Indonesian showroom, as well as a social hub for investors. The design team aimed to create a "bank open to the city" that would appeal to people walking the streets of Tokyo by showcasing Indonesian culture. By using light louvers on the ceiling of the two spaces—the bank counters and the meeting rooms for business negotiations—they created a greater sense of depth and produced a visual effect that draws people in. Public functions such as showcases, lounges, and bank waiting areas were seamlessly integrated. From the street, people can view the indoor activities and art. The bank was transformed into a "public space" where anyone can become familiar with Indonesian culture.
