"Located in Setagaya's vast, half-century preserved nine-hectare forest, this rental senior residence contributes to the continuity of greenery and the creation of a town where multiple generations can live together in good health. The goal was to pass the forest on to the next generation while creating a senior residence that contributes symbolically to the community for the promotion of health promotion that improves residents’ quality of life (QOL). This plan makes use of existing trees in focusing on the wellness components of “environment,” “body,” “mind,” and “society,” and includes an open, wood-constructed café and fitness building, as well as a courtyard-centered layout.
