Test Course of Mobility

Woven City is a living laboratory developed by Toyota Motor Corporation under the concepts of an ever evolving, "human-centered" city for testing new ideas, with the goal of well-being for all. By moving people, goods, information, and energy, Woven City challenges conventional mobility norms and serves as a test course for creating and testing various mobility modes. Planned on the former site of Toyota's East Fuji Plant in the city of Susono in Shizuoka Prefecture, construction of the first phase was completed in October 2024.

Woven City hosts a diversity of people who share a vision for the future of mobility where inventors, residents, and visitors can collaborate to create a “test course” in the form of a city and where people, mobility, and social infrastructure are interconnected. Various products and services will be demonstrated for validation while people live their daily lives.

Our company has been involved from the initial stages of this plan to realize the above concepts and create an environment for conducting smooth demo experiments. We were responsible for the planning and basic design of the urban infrastructure (civil engineering) of the Phase 1 area, as well as the collaboration in concept design, schematic design, developed design, and communication of design intent during the construction phase.
