Masao Nishioka joined Nikken Sekkei in 2001 after working as a research student at Kogakuin University's Graduate School of Engineering. He specializes in architectural design. 
 In recent years, he has headed designs for mixed-use complexes and commercial facilities. His expertise spans an array of building types, starting with the Pola Museum of Art, and includes suburban commercial facilities, waste incineration plants, urban hotels and commercial facilities, large-scale complexes connected to train stations as well as overseas mixed-use buildings. In addition to architectural design, he also has TOD experience.
He has received accolades from the AIJ (Architectural Institute of Japan), the JIA (Japan Institute of Architects), the Japan Federation of Construction Contractors, the BELCA (Building and Equipment Long-life Cycle Association), the WAFl (World Architecture Festiva), a CRED (China Real Estate and Development) AWARD, the JCSC (Japan Council of Shopping Centers), and others.
He is a first-class registered architect, an AIJ and JIA member, an APEC architect, and a  regular member of the SSOJ (Spacial Designers Support Organization of Japan).
