Executive Officer
Principal, Urban and Landscape Design Group, Urban and Civil Project Department

Ryuichi Kizumi joined Nikken Sekkei after finishing at The University of Tokyo's Graduate School of Engineering (Architecture) in 1992. He served at the firm’s Osaka office until 2016, planning and designing various public spaces. These included design guidelines and station plazas under the motto, "designing a city without designing architecture." Following the bubble economy under former Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi (2001-2006), he immersed himself in large-scale urban developments in Osaka, participating as an urban planner in projects such as Grand Front Osaka, Festival City, JP Tower, and the reconstruction of Daimaru Shinsaibashi. He then moved to the firm’s Tokyo office, where he has been working on projects in the Middle East, CIS, India, ASEAN, East Asia, China, and other regions, applying skills cultivated through Japanese urban developments, designs rooted in Japanese culture, and proud urban design principles illustrated through TOD (Transit-Oriented Development) projects, public spaces, smart cities, and the Green Initiative.
