Beijing Xitan Hotel

This project began with a desire on the part of the client and the design team to create a top quality resort hotel combining grandeur and subtlety by adding Japanese aesthetics to the mountain landscape of Beijing, China. After five years of design supervision and continuous dialogue between Japan and China, we were pleased to announce the opening of the Beijing Xitan Hotel in May, 2022. Nikken Sekkei landscape design staff members, along with Nomura Landscape Laboratory Director Kanji Nomura, were intimately involved from the concept planning through the construction stages. The resulting sophisticated site makes the most of its context while exploring the nature of Oriental aesthetics.
