Shigeru Yoshino

In 1986, after completing his master’s degree at the Waseda University, he joined Nikken Sekkei. His specialty is architectural design. Since joining the firm, he has been in charge of numerous unique projects. He was responsible for the design of the “Miraikan -The National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation,” “Tokyo Skytree,” “Shibuya Hikarie,” “Shin-Gen International Shijiazhuang Project,” and “Okinawa Cellular Forest Building,” among others.In particular, the design of the Tokyo Skytree—which must maintain functionality even under unprecedented strong winds, seismic activity, and flooding—required extensive consideration not only in terms of architectural design but also in structural engineering, building systems, and urban planning. I recognize this as an achievement unique to Nikken Sekkei, a group of professionals possessing the necessary knowledge, skills, and experience.Regardless of the project, we aim to fully leverage Nikken Sekkei’s heritage to provide excellent buildings to clients around the world.
