A Museum Open to Art, People, and the City

Built upon the foundation of Shojiro Ishibashi’s collection and rebranded (formerly the Bridgestone Museum of Art), this museum aims to create “a hands-on experience of creativity” and is open to everyone—people, art, and the city alike. As a multi-level museum in the heart of the city, the design draws inspiration from the character of the Kyobashi neighborhood, aiming to create a space reminiscent of a three-dimensional alleyway. It is a place where visitors can enjoy the cityscape visible through the windows and encounter art as naturally as if they were taking a stroll. Here, a new “landscape of boundaries” unfolds, where people, art, and the city respond to one another.
