A hotel where relaxation is like living there

This new hotel project is located in front of the second Shinto torii (gate) of Kamakura’s Tsurugaoka Hachiman Shrine. Aiming to create a hotel with a broader perspective of "a quiet villa surrounded by trees", “comfort and security” was chosen as the hotel’s identity. The guestroom engawa (verandas) were a particularly important aspect of the project. In keeping with the scale of Japan’s ancient capital and landscape regulations, the guest room floor height was kept low at 2.95m. The full-height windows and the veranda that extend beyond the windows blend in with the front garden and the view of Kamakura, where the pine trees and stone walls are preserved to evoke a sense of comfort and openness. By carefully designing the buffer connecting the inside and outside, the landscape, architecture, and interior blend together to create a lively atmosphere. The hotel we created yields a space where guests can relax as if living in a house, and can fully appreciate nature and the change of seasons.
