A Japanese Royal Retreat

This national guest facility houses distinguished guests from overseas. A garden cultivated in the climate and natural features of Japan and a building with deep eaves were integrated to compose a uniquely Japanese space. At the same time, efforts were made to combine Japanese features with Western lifestyles. In consideration of the comfort and convenience of such distinguished guests, shoes can be worn everywhere except in rooms with tatami. Primary consideration was given to making spaces relaxing by placing security equipment out of view and the like.
