Station Development in the Shinagawa Area
With the goal of establishing “Shinagawa as a City of International Exchange,” urban development centered on public transportation is underway in the area surrounding Shinagawa Station. This initiative is driven by efforts to strengthen the area’s role as a transportation hub by leveraging access to the Chuo Maglev Line and Haneda Airport, as well as large-scale land-use conversions—such as the site of a former railcar depot—and a series of grade-separated interchange projects. (Transit-Oriented Development: TOD) is being promoted in the area around Shinagawa Station.
